Charter

Polymer Solutions Inc., PSI, was founded in 1994 and set out to fill a distinct market void – the manufacture and supply of cost effective polymeric optical filters and filter systems to manage and manipulate light. In order to successfully fill this market void, PSI has remained dedicated to the advancement of specialty absorptive dyes and unique polymer processing techniques – the building blocks of polymeric filters.

Strategy

PSI has extensive experience in the field of absorber manufacture, polymer processing and filter design. PSI has invested over the years in state-of-the-art processing equipment. Strategic vendor alliances have been formed with extruders of resin, cell cast processors, molding partners, and component suppliers. PSI is continuously pursuing relationships in the U.S. as well as internationally. Such alliances allow PSI to offer a full range of service without the burden of expending capital on limited or single function equipment. Each vendor alliance allows for the movement of material with shared processing risk. Management of all processing and quality control is coordinated by PSI at all times.

Corporate Capabilities

PSI prides itself on its ability to solve complex optical filtration problems through the use of absorptive dyes, advanced optical polymers, various manufacturing techniques and sound engineering skill. Our current capabilities include:

  • Engineering services: Engineering and/or processing services – relating to optical manufacturing techniques, optical coatings and optical product design.
  • Product manufacturing management – from conception and design to manufacture and delivery.
  • Product testing and evaluation and filter development.
  • Color matching and filter design capabilities
  • Spectrophotometric capabilities – from the UV to NIR
  • Prototype window/plate preparation – for polymer filter evaluation and small scale production quantities.
  • Cell cast acrylic window manufacturing – sizes up to 48″x 72″ and thickness from 0.080″ to 0.250″.
  • Absorptive dye Library – with a large dye library containing specialty absorbers from 200 to 3000 nm.  All dyes are tested and rated for suitability for laser protection.
